Sikkim Ko is an independent digital media platform committed to public-interest journalism in Sikkim and the surrounding Himalayan region. Sikkim Ko is run by the Council for Democratic Civic Engagement (CDCE), a civic initiative focused on strengthening democratic participation and public dialogue. While CDCE provides institutional support and direction, all editorial decisions at Sikkim Ko are made independently by its editorial team. Our reporting is guided by journalistic principles of accuracy, fairness, and accountability, and is not influenced by organisational or external interests.

Our Focus

Our work centres on governance, environment, society, and the everyday realities of people whose voices are often underrepresented.

Our Principles

Accuracy first: We strive to verify information before publication. When facts are uncertain, we say so clearly.

Editorial independence: Editorial decisions are taken independently by the Sikkim Ko team.

Fairness and balance: We aim to represent multiple perspectives, especially in contested issues.

Distinction between reporting and opinion: News reports are based on verified facts and sourcesOpinion pieces reflect the views of the author and are clearly labelled

Accountability: We take responsibility for what we publish and are open to scrutiny and correction.

Conflict of Interest

Where coverage involves CDCE, its members, or associated initiatives, this relationship will be clearly disclosed. Such reporting will adhere to the same standards of fairness and scrutiny as all other coverage.
